The SI3000 Management System (MNS) enables the central monitoring and provisioning of the network elements that belong to the following Iskratel product generations:
It supports the full range of FCAPS (Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance and Security) management functions using a graphical user interface (GUI). The most frequent functions are available through the open northbound interface from external OSS/BSS systems.
The system enables the fast and easy deployment of new network elements and supports mass upgrades. Unified management enables network administrators to manage the complex networking parameters centrally in a simple way by managing user- and service-centric profiles.
In addition to Iskratel network elements it supports central alarm monitoring and OSS/BSS integration for some widely used non-Iskratel network elements (EWSD, Alcatel S12, Alsitek and others).
SI3000 MNS is dedicated for the monitoring and provisioning of small and large networks where Iskratel network elements are deployed.
For TDM / MSAN and NGN generation of Iskratel network elements it is necessary to deploy SI30000 MNS, but for the newest generation Lumia/Pono network elements it is an optional component in the solution.
It is recommended to use SI3000 MNS if the network is composed of a larger number of Lumia/Pono network elements because it provides central profile provisioning and it greatly simplifies the installation and upgrade of the network. It is also required to deploy the SI3000 MNS if the operator wants to use a high-level OSS/BSS SOAP interface for provisioning.
The application that unites all the provisioning applications is the central alarm-monitoring system called the SI3000 Fault Monitoring System (FMS). The FMS can also monitor third-party vendor equipment, which can be easily integrated into an external umbrella surveillance system.
The SI3000 MNS also supports OSS/BSS integration for all Iskratel network elements and for some widely used non-Iskratel network elements (EWSD, Alcatel S12, Alsitek and others).
The SI3000 MNS gives operators powerful and cost-effective control over thousands of network elements. With the appropriate northbound interfaces it enables interactions with higher-level Operations Support Systems (OSSs) for fault management, inventory management, network and service assurance and service provisioning and Business Support Systems (BSS) for billing and accounting. As a result, the SI3000 MNS solution is prepared to support the complete automation of the service-delivery and service-assurance processes. This enables operators to adequately control and ensure the fulfillment of service-level agreements and maintaining customers' high levels of satisfaction. Finally, the SI3000 MNS also supports the automation of the billing and accounting processes.
The SI3000 MNS management processes are based on the manipulation of data that are situated on managed Iskratel network elements as well as on the SI3000 MNS, appropriately stored in carrier-grade databases.
The up-to-date status of the configuration of the managed network elements on the SI3000 MNS is provided by the data synchronization between the managed network elements and the central database of the SI3000 MNS.
The SI3000 MNS is able to cost-effectively comply with any requirements for the management of a particular network. The architecture of the SI3000 MNS application software ensures its adaptability to be installed on a single-server platform as well as to be installed over a rack or blade multi-server compounded platform. To comply with high-availability requirements, the SI3000 MNS can operate on one or several stand-alone pairs of servers running in the “active/standby” mode.
The SI3000 MNS is designed according to the Enhanced Telecom Operations Map™ (e-TOM) initiative under the Next Generation Operations Support System (NGOSS) framework for developing operational and business support systems and software.
